Stranger Things 2 Superbowl Ad: Shot by Shot

The Superbowl teaser for Stranger Things 2 has caught everyone's attention and the entire internet is analyzing it and speculating for hidden clues.

Coming in at under 30 seconds, the scenes went by pretty fast and it would be easy to miss something, so here are all the shots presented in image format and explained for your convenience.

The teaser opens with a 1980s Eggo commercial.
"Leggo my Eggo!"

It is intercepted by the Stranger Things teaser.

The red night sky in the background and an Arcade sign spinning in the foreground. The arcade is a new Hawkins location for Stranger Things 2 and you will see more of the red sky in the trailer.

The images flicker between delicious, sirupy Eggos...

... and Eleven, upside down with a bloody nose and shut eyes. Probably an indication of her current location. I have a strong feeling this could be opening scene material.

Some lights appear in the dark night sky. Could it be a UFO?

Mike shouts "Eleven" and Eleven opens her eyes as the video converts to beautiful 4K quality.

The boys, sans Will, donning their Ghostbusters Halloween costumes, cycle down a Hawkins road.

Chief Hopper is in a room and some sort of explosion happens and things start flying around.

 Could this be The Storm?

THE WORLD IS TURNING

The boys in their Ghostbusters attire in front of Hawkins Middle School on Halloween. It seems like Dustin is looking at something in the distance – and he looks worried.

Chief Hopper sticks a shovel into the ground at night. Burying secrets or digging them up?

UPSIDE DOWN

Someone in a suit with a sort of flaming torch. They are in a yellow-lit room which is filled with smoke. Whoever and whatever it is, it gives off Hawkins Lab vibes. On a mission to the Upside Down, perhaps?

Joyce knows something is wrong with Will and has brought him in for examination by a doctor at Hawkins Lab. Is this the mysterious Dr. Owens, played by Paul Reiser? Also, notice the date: October 30, 1984 – the day before Halloween.

The camera pulls back to reveal they are under surveillance by agents at the lab. The top-right monitor shows the pipe which Eleven escaped through in Chapter One, while the bottom-right shows the exterior of the lab building.

Eleven, seemingly distraught, runs her fingers through her recently outgrown hair. Notice the blood stain on her sleeve. Someone has been using her powers again.

Will has drawn a dark drawing of a giant creature with long legs. The sky is filled with dark clouds and red lightning flashes coming out of them.

Will is in the living room as the front door slides open. Is someone using telepathy? We see the red lightning flashing through the crack. Many have noted that this shot is a homage to Spielberg's classic Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Goosebumps erupt on Will's neck...  Is this real life or is this just fantasy? Is he still having visions of the Upside Down?

Then the final, biggest and most awesome reveal: the giant monster from Will's drawing is in the forest outside his house. The sky is blood red.

Many are claiming this to be a homage to Stephen King adaptation The Mist.

A flashy new number 2 for the new season pans through the screen.

And joins the famous title screen of Stranger Things.

And the huge let-down; we have to wait for Halloween to see all this craziness play out on screen.
