Barb Is Explicitly Confirmed Dead, Again

The Duffer Brothers leave no room for doubt

The fate of Barb was revealed in "Chapter Seven: The Bathtub," when her decomposing corpse was found by Eleven, a slug crawling out of her mouth. As if that was not enough, when asked in an interview with IGN if Barb might reappear in Season 2, Matt Duffer said “I can’t see it happening."

However, many fans still held out hope that their favorite outsider could somehow still be alive and well. During a panel on Samsung 837 in New York City on Saturday 24, a fan asked "Is Barb dead?" This time, Matt left no room for doubt:

"I mean, yes ― yes, she’s dead. I thought we were pretty clear about that. There’s a slug hanging out of her mouth ― out of her dead corpse. And then if you were still confused, [Chief Jim] Hopper finds her in the nest, also very dead." Ross Duffer added “So if you are holding out hope that she is still alive, that’s just wishful thinking.”

So there you have it: Barb is absolutely, completely, one hundred percent dead.
