New Directors for Stranger Things 2 Announced

Entertainment Weekly announced that two new directors have been brought on for Stranger Things 2. Andrew Stanton is directing episodes 5, "The Storm," and 6, "The Pollywog," while Rebecca Thomas will direct episode 7, "The Secret Cabin."

In addition to this, The Duffer Brothers were announced as directors for the final episodes 8, "The Brain" and 9, "The Lost Brother."

Stanton is famous for working on several Pixar movies, having directed and written A Bug's Life, Finding Nemo, WALL-E and Finding Dory. His only previous live-action credit is the 2012 Disney film John Carter, which was a box office flop. Thomas is known for directing the 2012 feature film Electrick Children.

According to executive producer and director Shawn Levy, Stanton personally called him and asked to be a part of Stranger Things, being a big fan of the show himself:

Andrew called me out of the blue and said, ‘I love it. I would be honored to be part of it.'

As reported earlier, The Duffer Brothers directed episodes 1 and 2 of season 2 while Shawn Levy directed 3 and 4.
